• I'm so excited to announce that Week 1 of official training has wrapped up with the 2019 Cat Positive Pro Spring Semester! I've been on board with this program since late 2016/early 2017 and every year I'm always so honoured to be a part of it and to have the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing and creative shelters.

  • The Cat Pawsitive program works with shelters and their awesome staff and volunteers to teach clicker training to the cats in their care. The program is designed to increase adoptability by lowering overall stress while also providing enrichment for shelter cats.

Personally, being a part of the program means so much to me. There's a few different reasons why I love it and love being a trainer for it.

    • It gives shelter staff and volunteers new ways to engage with the cats
    • It gives cats confidence to own their environment and to offer behaviours for reinforcement
    • It teaches staff and volunteers ways to establish cooperative care for husbandry and medical procedures (moving cats, weighing, vaccines, blood draws)
    • It provides mental stimulation and enrichment for cats
    • It proves to the public and adopters that positive reinforcement training works.. not just with dogs but with any species!
    • It's fun!

Whether or not it's the cats that are frustrated and dying to bolt out of their cages. The cats who get overstimulated with the slightest bit of handling or the introverts who are shy and lack confidence, this program is saving lives.
